Two-day Environmental Education Training: WILD, Aquatic WILD, Project Learning Tree, & WET at Wellesley Island State Park

Join NYSDEC Central NY Education, Minna Anthony Common Nature Center, and NY State Parks Thousand Islands Region for an immersive two-day environmental education training focusing on youth education and K-8th grade on Thursday & Friday, January 14 & 15, 2016 from 9 AM to 5 PM at Minna Anthony Common Nature Center.

Non-formal youth educators and formal teachers will learn hands-on science inquiry techniques, how to showcase reading and writing in science education, how to blend social studies with science learning, and the fun of using simulations and hands-on experiences to engage youth.

Lunch: bring your own please

Thursday - 9 AM to 1230 PM WILD and 1 PM to 5 PM new Aquatic WILD

Friday - 9 AM to 1230 PM WET 2.0 and 1 PM to 5 PM Project Learning Tree

Participants can come for one day or both, but please put that information in the registration email. Participants completing each training will receive a certificate for professional development hours and the activity guide.

Most activity guides are correlated to Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards. The trainings will be hands-on and may include an outside component, so dress for the weather that day.
