CIC's "Second Saturday" program begins Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015 with "Hunting in the Catskills"

"Hunting in the Catskills" will be the topic for the kick-off of the "Second Saturday" program at the Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center (CIC) at 1:00 PM at 5096 Rte 28, Mt. Tremper NY.

The first presentation will feature Charles "Sonny" Somelofski, a New York State licensed guide and well-known outdoors expert, who will lead the conversation on the hunting tradition, its heritage, and what you need to know to enjoy hunting in the Catskills today.

Sonny will discuss which species can be hunted, and all requirements for hunting in New York including hunter education and safety courses, licenses, maps, permitting and obtaining access to NYS DEC and NYC DEP lands.

Know how to plan your hunting trip, clothing and gear needed, game restrictions and how to stay safe in the woods. Meet others with long experience in tracking, building blinds and tree stands, and handling and preserving your harvest.
