Congratulations to the Winners of the Eleanor Burlingham Earth Day Creative Arts Contest
Six fifth grade students from schools around Rockland County were honored for their submissions about ways people can take care of the environment at the annual Eleanor Burlingham Earth Day Creative Arts Contest. Students were presented with an Award of Excellence from the County Executive and a pin and certificate from the Environmental Management Council that organizes the contest.
Rockland Residents Attend Unclaimed Funds Workshops
Is New York State holding money in your name? Rockland residents attended Unclaimed Funds Workshops held throughout the County to see if they had any unclaimed funds. Find out if you have money in your name by visiting the NYS Comptroller's Office website here.
Congratulations to our Newest Corrections Officers
The County welcomed seven new corrections officers who graduated from the Academy this month.
These dedicated individuals have completed rigorous training and are now prepared to serve and protect our community with professionalism and integrity. We thank them for their role in keeping our community safe & we thank them for answering the call!
County Proclaims World Elder Abuse Awareness Day in Rockland
Did you know 1 in 10 Americans ages 60 and over have experienced some form of elder abuse? Rockland County Executive Ed Day proclaimed June 15th as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day in Rockland County to raise awareness about the different forms of elder abuse and the actions that can be taken to prevent it.

County Firefighter Memorial Groundbreaking
 The County of Rockland celebrated the groundbreaking of its new Firefighter memorial, honoring fallen firefighters. Included in the project is the relocation of the County’s existing WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam memorials for service members who lived in Rockland to the entryway of the firefighter memorial.
The new memorial will be located on the grounds of the Rockland County Courthouse at 1 S. Main Street, New City.
Office for the Aging Launches Portable Meal Program
The County Office for the Aging launched a new Portable Meal Program that will provide five nutritionally balanced meals every week to eligible older adults in Spring Valley, Haverstraw, and Nyack that are prepared by Meals on Wheels Programs & Services of Rockland.
The Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center in Spring Valley, the Central Presbyterian Church in Haverstraw, and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Nyack are partnering with OFA to help reach residents in need and facilitate distribution more effectively.

County Celebrates Juneteenth
In honor of Juneteenth, the Haverstraw African American Connection held a flag raising ceremony followed by a weekend of festivities with music and performances for all to attend at Haverstraw African American Memorial Park.
