Honoring Our Veterans Through Operation Green Light
In tribute to veterans, the County of Rockland’s Allison-Parris Building on New Hempstead Rd. in New City and Building A in the Pomona Health Complex off Route 45 was lit green for Operation Green Light.
Operation Green Light’s mission is to show support for veterans of all military conflicts, as well as raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by many veterans and their families, and the resources that are available at the county, state, and federal level to assist veterans and their families.

StoryWalk® Project Unveiled in West Haverstraw

County Executive Ed Day and the County Health Dept., together with the Village of West Haverstraw and Haverstraw King's Daughters Library, unveiled the latest StoryWalk® project installation at Peck's Pond in West Haverstraw.
While park visitors walk the loop path around the pond, they will enjoy the book titled Jump Frog Jump! ¡Salta, Ranita, Salta! by Robert Kalan available in both English and Spanish. The StoryWalk® book will be updated seasonally to engage residents year-round.

Rockland County Veterans Service Agency Director Susan Branam attended several Veterans Day events in the County honoring our brave heroes.

India Cultural Society of Rockland Celebrates Diwali

The India Cultural Society Of Rockland hosted their Annual Diwali Dinner & Dance with live music and entertainment celebrating the Festival of Lights.
County Executive Ed Day was honored to participate in the festivities and wished all who celebrate a bright and prosperous Diwali!
November is National Adoption Month
Our Department of Social Services' Children's Services Unit continues to increase awareness of the need for foster families. Foster home recruitment is a key element to the success of adoptions in our diverse county. Over the past 13 years, 88 children in Rockland County have been adopted by their foster families.

Paying Tribute to a Local Hero
Hundreds of community members and first responders came out to pay their respects to resident Dariel Vasquez, who died in the line of duty battling wildfires in Orange County.
The County of Rockland stands together with his family, friends, & fellow first responders to honor this true hero who lost his life protecting our communities. May he rest in peace.
Rockland Personnel Commissioner Recognized
 Congratulations to Rockland Personnel Commissioner Lori Gruebel for being featured by the New York State Association of Personnel & Civil Service Officers for her efforts in creating opportunities for growth and modernizing the civil service system.
