Health Department Flu Vaccine Clinics in October
The Rockland County Department of Health (RCDOH) announces flu (influenza virus) vaccine clinics taking place this October. To receive the flu vaccine, those with Medicare, Medicaid or private health insurance must bring their health insurance card. The vaccine is free of charge for those who are uninsured or underinsured.
The following flu vaccine clinics will be held for those ages 6 months and older:
· Friday, October 4, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm Robert Yeager Health Center, 50 Sanatorium Rd, Bldg A, Pomona (Exhibition Hall)
· Friday, October 11, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm Robert Yeager Health Center, 50 Sanatorium Rd, Bldg. A, Pomona (Exhibition Hall)
· Tuesday, October 8, 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center, 110 Bethune Blvd, Spring Valley
· Tuesday, October 29, 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm West Haverstraw Community Center, 50 W Broad St, Haverstraw
Pre-registration is preferred. To reduce wait time, register for an appointment at http://rcklnd.us/flu or call 845-364-2534.
Walk-ins are welcome and will be registered on-site.

Rockland County Youth Bureau Now Accepting Applications for 2025 Youth Sports Funding!
Not-for-profits, community-based organizations, and municipal agencies are eligible to apply for 2025 Youth Sports funding. Applicants must provide sports or physical fitness activities to Rockland County youth up to age 18. The funding term for these grants is October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2025.
Applicants can attend a virtual OR in-person informational session as follows:
• Wednesday, October 2, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm (Virtual) • Sunday, October 20, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, RCC Fieldhouse – Room 5151

September Recap
9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
The County of Rockland thanks everyone who attended the Annual September 11th Memorial Ceremony held at the County's September 11 Memorial at Haverstraw Bay Park.
Rockland County Executive Ed Day and other local officials joined with family members, first responders and residents to remember and honor those we lost on September 11, 2001. May we never forget the families and lives forever changed.
We're looking for more families to participate in our annual ceremony. Those interested in participating can contact the County Office of Fire & Emergency Services at 845-364-8800.
New York State Sheriff's Week
In observance of New York State Sheriff's Week, September 15-21, 2024, Rockland County Executive Ed Day issued a proclamation celebrating the week-long event in Rockland County.
We thank and honor the hard-working officers of our Rockland County Sheriff's Office for risking their lives everyday to protect the safety of our residents.
2024 Environmental Volunteer
Rockland County Executive Ed Day and Division of Environmental Resources Director Kevin McGuinness presented the 27th County Executive’s Outstanding Environmental Volunteer Award to Carolyn Hill during a ceremony at Kennedy Dells County Park in New City.

County Highway Facility Named Project of the Year
The County of Rockland's new Highway Facility has been named Project of the Year by the Rockland County Chapter of the New York State Society of Professional Engineers.
On behalf of County Executive Ed Day & Superintendent Skip Vezzetti, Rockland County Highway Deputy Superintendent Andrew Connors PE proudly accepted the County's award at a ceremony on September 18.

County Executive Ed Day and the Rockland County Veterans Service Agency held the annual Gold Star Family Recognition Ceremony at New City Library to honor the families of our fallen service members.
We will always remember and forever be grateful for our veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our country.
Congratulations to our Our Newest Americans
The County of Rockland welcomed 100 new citizens at a Naturalization Ceremony officiated by our Rockland County Clerk Donna Silberman at the County Fire Training Center in Pomona.
County Executive Ed Day attended to honor & welcome our newest residents while encouraging them to become active members of our community.
