Some common examples include bank and investment accounts, uncashed checks, telephone/utility deposits, rental security deposits, wages, insurance benefits, safe deposit box contents, mortgage insurance refunds, trust funds, and estate proceeds. To see if there are unclaimed funds in your name, visit the New York State Comptroller’s website and conduct a search by clicking here. There is no charge to search or file a claim to recover unclaimed funds.
On October 29, 2024 Nassau County Comptroller Elaine Phillips partnered with the Office of New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli to provide an unclaimed funds workshop for Nassau County residents at the Herricks Community Center. Attendees learned what unclaimed funds are and how to search for them; one-on-one assistance was provided to residents who were interested.
