Nassau County Grievance Period Opens
Among my top priorities as your Comptroller is transparent communication with taxpayers. Over the past year, I have visited and spoken with members of many chambers of commerce and civic associations, where residents have shown a great deal of interest in learning about Nassau County’s Property Tax Assessment grievance process. If you disagree with the assessed value of your home as indicated on the 2025-2026 Tentative Notice of Assessment, which was released on January 2, 2024, you can file an appeal with the Assessment Review Commission (ARC) from now until March 1, 2024.
Many Nassau County Legislators offer free workshops to help you review your property value and learn how to file a grievance or you can click here to view a free video with step-by-step instructions made available by ARC.

Moving Nassau Forward
We continue to make progress moving Nassau Forward with our major initiative to replace the County’s antiquated integrated financial system with a modern integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) financial software system. The Nassau Forward project, which is currently in the vendor selection phase, is among the County’s highest priorities and once implemented will enable the County to ensure use of best practices and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our financial processes and reporting capabilities. The Nassau Forward project consists of multiple phases and will span several years. My office will keep you up to date on our progress moving forward.

Nassau Recognized for Excellent in Financial Reporting
I’m pleased to announce that the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has once again recognized Nassau County with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This award is the 39th consecutive such recognition, this time for the County’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2022. Ensuring fiscal accountability and transparency in County government is among the most important functions of the Comptroller’s office and the GFOA Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. You can read more about that here.
