As Nassau taxpayers continue to struggle with the previous administration’s failed assessment phase-in (which does not expire until next year), I have directed the county’s Assessment Review Commission to extend the property assessment grievance deadline from March 1st to April 3rd. My administration has reviewed the Comptroller’s comprehensive audit that uncovered many inaccuracies in valuations, and I felt it was important to give residents additional time to grieve.
For more information about how to grieve your home’s assessed value, I encourage you to visit www.NassauCountyNY.gov.
Tens of thousands of people are homeless in Turkey following the massive and deadly earthquake. My administration offered assistance to Turkish Consul General Reyhan Ozgur. Together with the American Red Cross we’re raising relief funds to help. Please visit www.redcross.org or click here.
Zach Erdem, a Turkish Small Business Owner and star of reality show 75 MAIN, has been a great driving force behind these efforts. We thank him.
No matter what the time of year, there’s plenty to do in Nassau County! As inflation continues to rise, I encourage residents to take advantage of all that Nassau County has to offer.
