CENTRAL HUDSON TO DISTRIBUTE
DRY ICE & BOTTLED WATER
Monday, July 1, 2024
Following the severe storms resulting in power outages Sunday afternoon, Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp has announced they will distribute dry ice and bottled water on a first-come, first-served basis at the following locations today, July 1st, starting at 10:30am.
Bottled Water & Dry Ice Distribution
- Home Depot (Dutchess Mall), 450 Route 9, Fishkill
- Tops Friendly Market, 6726 Route 9, Rhinebeck
Central Hudson expects all remaining Dutchess County customers to have electric service restored today by 10pm with some individual locations anticipated to be restored sooner.
Residents should exercise an abundance of caution around downed power lines by staying at least 30 feet away and remember that downed lines can become entangled and hidden in fallen limbs. Residents should also remember to assume any downed power lines are live.
Keep safety in mind, particularly during power interruptions, with these tips:
- Never use kitchen stoves or outdoor gas or charcoal grills indoors, as they pose a fire hazard and, over time, can give off carbon monoxide gas;
- Avoid opening a refrigerator unnecessarily during power outages, so food lasts longer. An unopened refrigerator can keep food fresh for up to 4 hours;
- Beware of fallen trees and limbs, and use caution when traveling;
- Avoid the use of candles for illumination due to fire hazards;
- Follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions on the use of emergency generators, be sure to shut off the main breaker when in use and operate the units outdoors; and
- Operate cars and motor vehicles outdoors only, and never inside the garage
