Dutchess County to Host Health Fair on June 11th
County departments, local exhibitors to offer information, demonstrations

Poughkeepsie… The Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health (DBCH) will host the Y.O.U.R (Young, Old, Urban, Rural) Health Dutchess County Health Fair on Saturday, June 11th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the lower level of the former JCPenney store at the Poughkeepsie Galleria, 2001 South Road in Poughkeepsie. The free, rain-or-shine event will feature informational exhibits and demonstrations from various Dutchess County Government departments and divisions, as well as local exhibitors, with both indoor and outdoor activities being offered.

Dr. Livia Santiago-Rosado, DBCH Commissioner, said, “Our health fair will provide residents of every age valuable information about how to maintain healthy lifestyles, while also offering demonstrations from various County departments and community partners which will highlight the network of local programs and services available to address their health concerns.”

Various County departments and local service providers and businesses which specialize in health-related programs, offering information and resources. The afternoon will include several raffles, games, and giveaways to create fun for the whole family. Attendees will go home with free health-related items such as COVID-19 home test kits, tick removal kits, and first aid kits among others.  

County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “Residents are keenly aware of the importance of their own health and that of their loved ones. I encourage residents to stop by our health fair, learn about how to improve and maintain their well-being and appreciate the myriad resources available to them.”

DBCH staff will be on hand to provide information about, among other topics, mental health counseling, rabies, tick-borne illnesses, drowning prevention, and maternity health topics. Throughout the afternoon trainings and demonstrations will be offered by county agencies, school districts, and community partners that support the health of residents and their families. 

Among other County departments and divisions, deputies from the DCSO’s K-9 unit will hold demonstrations with their canine officers in the Galleria parking lot, where DER staff will display its Mobile Command Unit and a fire truck as touch-a-truck experiences for children. The Dutchess County Traffic Safety Council will host an outdoor bike rodeo and perform car seat checks for attendees. 

The health fair will also feature a sensory sensitive area, embodying the County’s ThinkDIFFERENTLY initiative, which offers a welcoming and supportive environment for those of all abilities. Attendees can also qualify for fun giveaways and similar promotions from County departments and local businesses.
