New Parks Program Invites Virtual Nature Exploration and Learning

Welcome to Base Camp! Park Naturalists, Jessica and Dave, have created a fun new virtual nature discovery that piggybacks off Dutchess County Parks' in-person survival and nature education classes. Over the course of eight weeks, new content will be added for visitors to virtually explore and discover nature via the new online Base Camp platform. The program is free and open to all to participate at dutchessny.gov/basecamp and registration is not required.

Base Camp graphicSo far, Dave has lead a lesson on how to build a shelter in the woods using sticks, branches, and leaves, and visitors had the chance to virtually explore the pond at Bowdoin Park.

Other upcoming topics include:

  • Tracking
  • Eagles
  • Fire Making
  • Nocturnal Animals
  • Building a Figure-4 Trap
  • and more!

Additionally, other park programs, trail maps, park history and other special content will be shared. Be sure to look closely at all of the areas on your screen to click through and discover.

Let's get started... leave no stone unturned. See you at Base Camp!
