Oct. 15, 2026
Dear Neighbors,
Fall is in the air, and we're ready to celebrate! Join us for our free Haunted Harvest Thursday, Oct. 29, 4-7:30 p.m. at the Centennial Hills YMCA and Centennial Hills Library.
Be sure to wear your favorite costume and enjoy spooky fun with trunk-or-treating, a haunted house, a DJ, lawn games, food trucks and more. It will be a spooktacular time!
In other news, the updated school ratings are out. Congratulations to the educators, students, administrators, parents and community cheerleaders at our Ward 6 schools. You're rocking it!
And special congratulations to the team at Joseph M. Neal Elementary, which jumped from a 3-star school to a 4-star school.
Read more details further down about our Bocaditos With Brune (on a Monday this month) and our town hall focused on parks, recreation and cultural affairs updates.
As a reminder, my office is always available to help. If you need anything, please reach out to us at ward6@lasvegasnevada.gov or call 702-229-5463.
At your service,
 Councilwoman Nancy E. Brune, Ph.D.

Opening Doors To Better Care

Flipping The Script On Homelessness
I was proud to help sponsor and speak at Nevada Homelessness Alliance’s Fifth Annual Nevada Statewide Conference on Addressing Homelessness. Together, we are challenging outdated ideas through innovation, partnership and meaningful action. That’s how we create a better Nevada for all!
Building Community
The ConnectHER Yoga at the Sanctuary was a magical morning of zen, nature and animal friends. Thank you to all who came! All proceeds support Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary’s rescued animals.
Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
We were proud to sponsor the Suika T concert at Centennial Hills Amphitheater. Neighbors enjoyed the Latin-fusion music and danced the night away. We look forward to bringing more cultural acts center stage!
Supporting Our Neighborhoods
We had the city’s Neighborhood Porch come to one of our Ward 6 neighborhoods. Neighbors connected with each other over cold lemonade, explored city resources and learned how to get involved in their community.
Working Together For Nevada's Cities
I was honored to represent our fabulous city at the Nevada League of Cities' Silver State Cities Summit. I'm also thrilled to be elected as the treasurer/secretary of the Nevada League of Cities' board. As I step into this new leadership role, I look forward to advocating for our Nevada cities, strengthening collaboration with local leaders and supporting communities across Nevada.
Supporting Attainable Housing Efforts
We celebrated the opening of 59 new attainable housing units at Marion D. Bennett Plaza II in Ward 5. These units are designed to serve seniors aged 62 plus and/or individuals with disabilities.
Then, I went to SRNHA's Landlord Appreciation Fair to share some love with our growing roster of landlords who are helping house neighbors. Even with new units, we still have a shortage of 100,000 housing, and we need even more landlords to help us deliver solutions.
