Celebrating Cycling
The third annual Pedal Fest was an unforgettable ride! More than 3,000 cyclists of all ages joined us at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs for a gravel crit race, trail rides, demos, vendors, a kids’ bike rodeo, live music from Down Twenty and more.
Huge thanks to our partners Southwest Bikes, Southern Nevada Mountain Bike Association, Southern Nevada Bicycle Coalition and Clark County School District’s Safe Routes to Schools. And shout out to our sponsors NV Energy and Western Mutual Insurance Group!
Welcoming Students To City Hall
We partnered with Ward 5 to welcome Black Student Unions from schools across the community to City Hall! Students heard from an inspiring lineup of city panelists who answered their questions about leadership and public service.
They also got a behind-the-scenes tour of City Hall. We loved seeing the next generation of leaders!
Beautifying Our Parks
More than 50 volunteers joined us to paint 1,531 feet of fence and collect 17.6 pounds of trash at Floyd Lamb Park! Together, we’re helping keep our parks healthier and more beautiful for our residents and wildlife.
Celebrating The Beauty Of Aging
I attended the annual Celebration of Aging, hosted by the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority and the Rose Foundation. This event honors our older residents while celebrating the beauty of aging, the wisdom that comes with it and the importance of providing support to our seniors.
Supporting Our Jeremiah Program Moms
Our Jeremiah Program (JP) Day of Advocacy brought JP moms face to face with city leadership to discuss childcare needs and advocacy efforts underway. JP moms also had the opportunity to tour the city’s Strong Start Go! Mobile Pre-K Bus.
As chairperson of the JP Board, these conversations are always so enlightening. I enjoyed sharing the work we’re doing in Ward 6!
Organizing Unique Community Events
Our final Critters of the Night event of the year was packed! And luckily, attendees were treated to plenty of wildlife sightings at Floyd Lamb Park. Thank you to the Nevada Department of Wildlife for your partnership and expertise!
Playing Pickleball For A Cause
Our Fiesta en la Cancha event at Skye Canyon celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with pickleball! Players gave it their all while enjoying food and beverages from Tres Niñas Food Truck.
Thank you to the Southern Nevada Pickleball Association for your partnership! Half of the proceeds will benefit the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary and support their rescued animals.
Supporting Attainable Housing Efforts
I attended the grand opening of Gholson Landing, which provides 121 new units for low-income families in our community. With approximately 80% of the units already leased, it’s clear there is an immediate need for attainable housing.
Located in Ward 3, this new complex is a wonderful addition to our city. Thank you to the Michaels Organization for partnering with the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority to bring this project to life.
