I’m excited to announce that I was elected again to serve as chair of the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority (SNRHA)! I’m ready to continue finding ways to support housing that meets Southern Nevada’s needs and fills critical gaps in our community.
I’m grateful to do this important work alongside the SNRHA board, team and vice chair, Commissioner Marissa Brown.
Supporting Our Unhoused Neighbors
Team Brune attended the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Unhoused Compstat Meeting. We learned about resources for stability, changes to Medicaid and strengthening community safety for our unhoused neighbors.
Celebrating New Businesses In Ward 6
We are so thrilled to welcome Jet’s Pizza to Ward 6! They have original Detroit-style deep dish pizza along with plenty of other delicious options. I kept hearing from neighbors how great it is — and the hype did not disappoint! Their new location is on Durango Drive and Farm Road.
Learning About CSN's Wins and Priorities
As the founding chair and current member of the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) Institutional Advisory Council, I was pleased to attend CSN’s inaugural "State of the College" message. Congratulations to Mayor Berkley, who received a "key" to the college. CSN’s future is bright!
Exploring The Status Of Women In Nevada
I attended a presentation of the Women in Nevada report authored by the Guinn Center. The report found that while women in Nevada have made progress in areas of educational attainment, political representation and business ownership, women have fallen behind in healthcare access, affordable housing and childcare costs.
Celebrating Independencia de Mexico
As part of our Ward 6 Hispanic Heritage month set of activities, we partnered with the Nevada Latino Police Officer Association and the Mexican Patriotic Committee to host a Mexican Independence Day Celebration at Centennial Hills Park.
Meeting With Neighbors
We had a great Bocaditos With Brune event this month, where we talked about community resources, bike safety and more!
Remembering 9/11
Hundreds of volunteers came together for our 9/11 Remembrance and Service Day event. We began with a remembrance ceremony and the planting of 500 flags at Floyd Lamb Park (FLP). We honored the lives that were lost 25 years ago and the brave first responders.
Then, we made 1,000 hygiene and snack kits for Southern Nevada Health District’s Street Medicine program. We also weeded and cleaned up around the park. Off-site, we collected almost 50 pints of blood.

We also partnered with Just Serve for the 9/11 Community Day of Service. Hundreds of volunteers donated items and completed projects benefiting organizations across the valley to make a positive difference!
