Aug. 20, 2026
Dear Neighbors,
With school back in session and the heat, we're hosting a free Summer Splash Night at the Centennial Hills Community Center/YMCA Saturday, Aug. 29, 5-8 p.m. for the whole family. This after-hours event will have free swimming and ice cream (while supplies last)! No registration is needed.
We also want to give a huge shout out to Ward 6's own Jennifer Blanchard, recreation coordinator at the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center. Jennifer is this month's city of Las Vegas Employee of the Month. We could not be prouder of her accomplishments and this recognition!
If you know Jennifer, you know her work at the center is more than a role -- it's a calling. Her love for our community shows in every event, decorated room, resource and homemade dish she provides for our active adults.
Be sure to check out our other upcoming events, like our Bocaditos with Brune, 9/11 Remembrance and Service Day Bash, Community Day of Service and PedalFest (seeking vendors!) further down.
As always, if you need anything, please reach out to us at ward6@lasvegasnevada.gov or call 702-229-5463.
At your service,
 Councilwoman Nancy E. Brune, Ph.D.

Supporting Small Businesses
One of our top priorities is supporting small businesses! Our latest quarterly Small Business Breakfast was a morning full of inspiration and networking with 70+ small business owners.
Thank you to our expert guest speakers for sharing helpful tips and information with our small business owners:
- Jon Birds from Applied Analysis who shared economic, employment and artificial intelligence (AI) trends.
- Carlo Irigoyen from MC Creative who shared how to maximize video content for marketing.
Appreciating Our Hardworking Teams
We thanked our city of Las Vegas teams, including Public Works, Traffic, Parks and Code Enforcement with free shaved ices for all of their hard work. With the unrelenting Vegas heat, they were the perfect sweet treat to cool off.
Thank you to Ward 6's own Breakin the Ice truck for the shaved ices!
Meeting With Neighbors
Thank you to our neighbors who came out to our recent Bocaditos with Brune. Our Bocaditos with Brune are intimate gatherings — but their impact is anything but small. It’s another neighbor heard. A Ward 6 story told. A problem met with a solution. New faces becoming familiar ones.
This is what’s it all about: neighbors supporting neighbors and building a stronger community together!
Taping New "Access City Council" Episodes
Our new "Access City Council" episode is out now! We talk about our upcoming 9/11 Remembrance and Service Day Bash with Just Serve Specialist Rebecca Bunker and Las Vegas Boy Scouts Director Deanna Greene.
We also flexed our creative muscles at a local Ward 6 business, Board and Brush. We were joined by the fabulous Mayor Shelley Berkley to create and paint woodwork projects.
