Serving Up Fun For Our Youth
Our Youth Pickleball series has been a smashing success! Youth ages 14-24 of all skills levels played pickleball at the Centennial Hills Community Center/YMCA against Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Northwest Area Command (LVMPD NWAC) officers. Thank you to our partners the Centennial Hills Community Center/YMCA, LVMPD NWAC and Southern Nevada Pickleball Association for supporting this event series! Our final night of the series is Monday, July 27, 8-10 p.m.
Supporting Attainable Housing
As chair of the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority, I'm always thrilled to celebrate new doors opening for our community. That's why it was such an honor to celebrate the grand opening of Beals-Henderson Pointe, a new affordable housing community in Ward 5 at Rancho and Duncan Drive.
Those doors don't just lead to a new home; they open the way to greater opportunity and a brighter future for our neighbors. Thank you to The Michaels Organization for building this stunning community!
It was also meaningful to hear from the families of Alversa Beals and Essie Henderson, for whom the community is named. We honored their enduring legacies of labor reform, improving access to health care and community self-sufficiency.
Congratulating Our City Attorney
Congratulations to Jeff Dorocak, our city attorney, on being named the Legal Aid Center's Pro Bono Volunteer of the Month! When he's not giving us legal counsel and reading the fine print at City Hall, Jeff also volunteers and serves on the boards of Nevada Legal Services of Southern Nevada and the Southern Nevada Senior Law Program.
His commitment to expanding access to justice and serving our most vulnerable neighbors is inspiring. We're so lucky to have him — a true public servant!
