Honoring Dads Who Make A Difference
August is back-to-school month! So during City Council, we recognized Dads in Schools and DAD INC., two organizations that are empowering dads to get involved and lead with purpose.
Dads in Schools recruits volunteers to be a positive presence at schools. They’ve already expanded to more than 50 schools across the valley — and are looking for more volunteers!
DAD INC. connects fathers with community resources to build stronger, healthier families. To date, they’ve served more than 1,300 dads!
Supporting Public Health
I am honored to have been selected as secretary of the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) Board. The SNHD is working hard to keep our community safe and healthy.
Discussing Policy
We were pleased to visit with Minority Whip Katherine Clark to discuss the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, highlight the good work of the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority, and discuss our region's need for additional housing vouchers.
Celebrating Back to School
Our Splash Back to School was a fun community celebration with swimming, youth performances (bravo to Somerset Sky Pointe Musical Theater and the Y’s AOA Dance Group), a movie screening of “Finding Nemo,” ice cream, food trucks and vendors.
Thank you to everyone who came out! And a huge SHOUT-OUT to Centennial Hills YMCA for partnering with us to make it happen!
