Hello friends and neighbors,
I hope you’re all having a wonderful Thursday! It’s time once again for our weekly newsletter, filled with highlights from the past week and a look at what’s ahead.
First and foremost, I want to thank you all for coming out to the 25th Annual Juneteenth Festival this past Saturday to celebrate this historic national holiday. Based on attendance data and the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received from you, this year's event was a tremendous success. Our goal was to create an experience that felt like a family reunion, a community cookout, and a celebration for all ages. Your participation helped bring that vision to life.
We are deeply grateful for your support and involvement in this signature annual event, presented by the Rainbow Dreams Educational Foundation in partnership with the city of Las Vegas, the City of North Las Vegas and Clark County.
We hope you had a wonderful time with your family and friends. We are excited to see how we can make 2027 even better for the community.
In that same spirit of connection and progress, our work continues. Don’t forget to check out the “Looking Ahead – Come Join Us!” section below for upcoming events and opportunities to stay engaged.
Wishing you a safe, meaningful and enjoyable weekend!
Warm regards,
Shondra Summers-Armstrong
25th Annual Juneteenth Festival
Saturday, June 20, the city of Las Vegas and the Rainbow Dreams Educational Foundation partnered to host the highly anticipated 25th annual Juneteenth celebration. This year marked an exciting new chapter for the festival, with its move to Symphony Park. This year exceeded our expectations, and we received overwhelmingly positive feedback.
The outdoor festival and marketplace in the park featured local vendors, food trucks, live music from DJ Kelly J and performances by talented local artists. The music and atmosphere were vibing.
The evening also included exclusive sold-out performances by R&B star Christopher Williams inside Myron’s at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. He was joined by the high‑energy bands Kyss Kyss & The Squad and Unc & The Nephews for two unforgettable shows. I had the best time supporting this show with my colleagues and friends.
The proceeds of this event went to benefit the students of the Rainbow Dreams Education Foundation in the form of scholarships. Students received $2,500 scholarships to contribute to their college funds.
At the end of the night, we finished off the momentous celebration with dancing and fireworks. I want to thank you all for coming out to this event and contributing to the success of the festival. We hope to see you all in 2027.
