Dear Neighbors,

Our Fourth of July event is next Saturday! Celebrate 250 years of independence with us at Buckskin Basin (main viewing area) and Wayne Bunker Family Park (additional viewing area) starting at 7 p.m. This year will be bigger and better than ever with food trucks, entertainment, a one-of-a-kind aerial display, fireworks and a live DJ. Tune in to Sunny 106.5 FM at 9:15 p.m. for patriotic music to accompany the show!

We're also planning our Splash Back-to-School event at the Centennial Hills Community Center/YMCA on Aug. 1. We'll have a movie by the pool! Let us know what movie you and your family would like to see in this survey.

Protecting Seniors from Fraud

We partnered with Ward 2 Councilwoman Kara Kelley for a fraud prevention session, helping over 60 seniors learn how to spot scams and protect themselves. Thanks to the FBI and Nevada Senior Law Program for providing such helpful information. We’ll have more sessions like this coming up. Stay tuned!

Celebrating Father's Day

We had a splash-tastic time partnering with the Centennial Hills Community Center/YMCA of Southern Nevada and Centennial Hills Active Adult Center for a Father's Day pool party. Dads and families joined us for swimming, a hot dog bar, games and raffles.

Thank you to all the dads and father figures who support and strengthen our families!

Discussing Policy Priorities

I was honored to give the welcome remarks at the Southern Nevada Forum wrap-up event. It brought together all policy committees and legislative leaders to share key information and policy priorities for the upcoming legislative session. This kind of collaboration is so important to shaping a brighter future for Southern Nevada.

Calling Northwest small business owners and entrepreneurs! Our next Small Business Breakfast is Wednesday, Aug. 12, 8:30-10 a.m. at the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center. Enjoy a breakfast spread, guest speakers and networking to get uplifted and inspired!

Seeking Vendors - Southern Nevada Pedal Fest

We're looking for vendors for our Southern Nevada PedalFest! This event will be a beautiful day of riding and community celebration at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. There will be group rides, gravel criterium race, demo bikes, food trucks and a beer garden.

First Tuesday

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Northwest Area Command's next First Tuesday event is July 7, starting at 5 p.m. The presentations will highlight their Drone Operations Program and more advanced technologies to prevent crime and terrorism.

Firefighter Bootcamps

If you're interested in becoming a firefighter, check out Las Vegas Fire and Rescue's upcoming bootcamps -- designed to share information about the application process and day-to-day career as well as prepare you for the fitness test!

Youth Advisory Council

The Youth Advisory Council is looking for youth who are interested in making a difference in their communities through civic engagement and leadership. A bonus: youth earn a full external high school credit!

The Centennial Hills Active Adult Center operated by the city of Las Vegas is open Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 6601 N. Buffalo Drive.
