Recognizing Our Citizens Of The Month
We recognized our May 2026 Ward 6 Citizens of the Month! Our theme: community builders.
We celebrated Ward 6 neighbors who are catalysts for bringing people together and creating special spaces for community. This month’s honorees include:
• Ken Kraft — Ward 6 Traffic Commissioner, HOA member, and founder of Latkefest • Patti Chess — President of Southern Nevada Pickleball and dedicated volunteer leader • Kim Bishop (her lovely husband, Mitch, is pictured in her place) — Special education teacher at Divich Elementary and service project organizer • Cory Ravize — Real estate agent, President of the Divich Elementary PTO and community outreach leader.
Promoting E-Bike and E-Scooter Safety
We partnered with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Northwest Area Command at their First Tuesday event, focusing on e-bike and e-scooter safety. We had volleyball games, information booths, treats and raffle prizes.
Thank you to Las Vegas Fire and Rescue and the Department of Public Safety for joining our volleyball games. And thank you to Pinkbox for keeping us fueled with donuts!
Safety takes all of us working together. Let’s keep rolling in the right direction!
Listening To Jazz Under The Stars
The Jazz Under the Stars event at Centennial Hills Amphitheatre, which we began last year, reached new heights! This year, more than 2,000 neighbors enjoyed smooth jazz from the Jazz Vegas Orchestra and Naomi Mauro. More free concerts like this to come!
Honoring Our Great American Award Students
It was inspiring to see our Ward 6 fifth-grade students and families represent at the Great American Awards. Nine Ward 6 schools participated, emphasizing the importance of civic knowledge, patriotism and perseverance. I loved seeing a room full of future leaders — our future is in good hands!
The Great American Award Challenge requires students to memorize parts of American history, such as the Gettysburg Address and the names of all 46 presidents.
Celebrating Mother's Day
I stopped by the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center for their Timeless Tea event, a beautiful early celebration for Mother’s Day. There were plenty of tasty high tea bites. The center's team always goes above and beyond!
Breaking Ground On New Parks
A new park is coming to Skye Canyon! Named after Igor Soldo, a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer who lost his life while serving the community, this park will bring our community together in remembrance and to create new memories. It will have a splash pad, playground, soccer fields and pickleball courts.
Celebrating Cinco De Mayo
I got in the Cinco de Mayo spirit with a celebration at Centennial Hills Park Amphitheatre, sponsored by the National Association of Latino Peace Officers and Mexican Patriotic Committee. They had bands, music, food trucks and vendors. Fire station 41 even stopped by!
Prioritizing Attainable Housing Efforts
As chair of the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority (SNRHA), I spoke about the importance of attainable housing at the SNRHA Forum. This forum brings private, public and nonprofit partners and leaders together to tackle this crisis through collaboration, paving the way for real solutions.
