VFA Summer Games
June 22-26
Thousands of youth athletes will come together this summer for the first-ever VFA Summer Games, a citywide Olympic-style sports event created to bring attention to something every parent should know.
Sudden cardiac arrest is the No. 1 leading medical cause of death in young athletes. And 96% of standard youth physicals do not include any screening for underlying heart conditions.
Vegas for Athletes (VFA), a locally founded and based nonprofit, created the VFA Summer Games to help raise awareness about the importance of electrocardiogram (ECG) heart screenings for youth athletes, while celebrating sports, teamwork and community.
Athletes receive free heart screening as they take part in the experience, beginning with an opening ceremony featuring an athlete parade and live concert, followed by three days of competition across multiple sports, and culminating with a glow-in-the-dark closing celebration at Cowabunga Bay Water Park.
Parents can register their athlete or support the mission to protect young athletes.
