Hello friends and neighbors!
Happy Black History Month!
We're kicking off February with a lineup of meaningful community partnerships and family-friendly events, including our Valentine’s Day get-together and Love on Jackson.
Also, this month, our first neighborhood cleanup of the year is scheduled for the 28th. Last year, we were proud to co-host six cleanups with Get Outdoors Nevada, and we're excited to start out strong in 2026!
Be sure to check out the Looking Ahead – Come Join Us section for more details on these, and all of Ward 5's upcoming events. We look forward to seeing you out in the community!
Warm regards,
Shondra Summers-Armstrong

"Waiting On A Light On A Corner By Sound Exchange" Unveiling
Feb. 2, the city unveiled "Waiting on a Light on a Corner by Sound Exchange" by David Ryan, the newest addition to the city's public art collection. Ryan, originally from Austin, Texas, and a graduate of UNLV's Master's in Fine Arts program, continues to work and create in downtown Las Vegas. We're incredibly proud to have a nationally and internationally acclaimed artist like David Ryan continue to live and work here in the city!
The sculpture, "Waiting on a Light on a Corner by Sound Exchange," located on the southeast corner of Third Streed and Odgen Avenue, encourages us to view the everyday and mundane with fresh eyes during the course of our daily routines. Stop by to appreciate Ryan's contribution to the city's public art collection the next time you're in the area!
