Nevada Reading Week was celebrated statewide March 3-7, 2025, with the mission of inspiring a love for reading and highlighting its importance. Councilwoman Summers-Armstrong proudly participated in the festivities, visiting several schools across Ward 5, including Vegas Vista Academy, JT McWilliams Elementary School, Wendell P. Williams Elementary School, Doris Reed Elementary School, Ollie Detwiler Elementary School, Rainbow Dreams Academy, Matt Kelly Elementary School and Kermit R. Booker Sr. Elementary School.

Black History Month, also known as African American History Month, began Feb. 1 and continued throughout the month to honor the significant achievements and contributions of African Americans throughout history. Councilwoman Summers-Armstrong and her staff were honored to participate in several impactful events, including the African American Student Leadership Summit at the West Las Vegas Library Theater, the Mid-Day Inspirational Lunch at the Historic Fifth Street School, the A Night of Expressions Youth Talent Showcase at the Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza, and the presentation of a proclamation to Dr. Anthon Browder at the Kemet in the Desert event, held at the West Las Vegas Library.

The city of Las Vegas, in partnership with the Southern Nevada Regional Housing Authority, is excited to support residents of Marble Manor through a spring cleaning event! This initiative will focus on picking up litter along the neighborhood streets and assisting residents who may need help removing old furniture or debris from their properties.
The city of Las Vegas team will provide all cleaning supplies, on-site staff support, training and refreshments.
