Spanish Literature Programming
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! We're excited to share three panel discussions and one workshop highlighting Spanish literature at this year's festival.
Latina romance authors and friends Alexis Daria, Annette Chavez Macias, Priscilla Oliveras and Mia Sosa will discuss their books and inspiration with moderator Jacqueline Killian.
Another discussion will examine how literary partnerships can enhance writers’ careers by providing platforms for international visibility, co-authorship opportunities and the exchange of innovative ideas; moderated by Juanny Vega, this panel includes Patricia Marulanda, Dr. Marcela Bernal Pardo, Guanina Alexandras Robles and Niza Todaro.
Latinx educators in Southern Nevada, Marbella Alfonso, Laurents E. Bañuelos-Benitez and Norma A. Marrun will join a conversation about their experiences and histories.
Lastly, attendees are invited to a workshop on the indigenous calendar and astrology system. This tri-lingual workshop offers an introduction to the Tonalli, a key element in indigenous timekeeping and astrology systems, which is deeply connected to the traditions of indigenous peoples across the modern-day United States, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras and Nicaragua.
