Notice of Funding Opportunities from Foundations
The Grants Administration Team will begin sending out funding opportunity announcements from foundations.
These types of announcements differ from federal and state grants because the typical eligible entity must be a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization.
The city can satisfy this requirement by applying for fiscal sponsorship under the Mayor’s Fund. You can find more information about the Mayor’s Fund here.
When a department decides to apply for a foundation grant, please email clvgrantsadmin@lasvegasnevada.gov and we will be more than happy to assist you.

Stronger Together Training
A few months ago, the Organizational Development and Training team launched a new Diversity, Equity and Inclusion class series that takes a purposeful, person-focused approach to this topic. We have intentionally taken small steps to release this initiative, gather feedback along the way, and make modifications as needed for its rollout across the city. The first class is currently being offered once a month and has a recommended class size of 10. All of these DEI classes are intended to be small, conversational, interactive, and introspective. Registration is via Oracle; see the instructions on the Employee Portal, News section. All employees are welcome and encouraged to attend. The second class in this series is called Mindset Matters and the prerequisite would be to have completed "DEI and YOU." These classes will be offered once per month starting in July. Call 702.229.4832 for more information.
First Class: "DEI and YOU"
Understanding Diversity, Equity and Inclusion starts with YOU. What do those words mean to you? What events and actions gave them those meanings? What brought them to life? Understanding what it is and what meaning you have put to it brings you one step closer to being able to shift. Time to have some real conversations about who you are, what groups you may be a part of, and how that affects what you share with others.
Second Class: "Mindset Matters"
Understanding the power of our mind and the impact of bias can lead to a better understanding of when and how those biases developed, identifying what they are, and then being able to shift our focus when they come up. We all have unconscious biases as part of our subconscious mind and they are often difficult to detect. Learning how to identify unconscious bias through raised awareness will assist in changing our mindset when needed.
Emotional Intelligence Opportunity
June 12, the city of Las Vegas, in partnership with GENOS International and GENOS North America, launched an Emotional Intelligence program available to all city employees, community partners and residents across our city.
Genos International Founder and CEO Dr. Ben Palmer addressed the kick-off attendees, shared the value of emotional intelligence and provided an overview of the impact it can have on our personal and professional lives as a community.
The program will go through the end of June 2024 with the possibility of extension, depending on the overall success of the initiative. Interested in learning more? Watch a clip from the kick-off event: https://vimeo.com/835984820.
Want to help spread the word? If you have community partners, agencies and or friends who live, work, play, or provide services within the boundaries of our six wards, please share this opportunity with them. Informational fliers in English and Spanish are included here and here. Have more questions? Email to InfoEI@lasvegasnevada.gov.
