Congratulations to the Vegas Golden Knights on their remarkable achievement of winning the Stanley Cup! As a relatively new team in Las Vegas, their triumph is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and support from all the fans. This victory marks a significant milestone in the team's history and is a cause for celebration for the Golden Knights and the entire city of Las Vegas!
Councilwoman Victoria Seaman's Updates
I loved getting to meet with the Shepards Breakfast community at the Wealthy Place Ministries. Together with leaders like these, we can make Las Vegas the crown jewel of the west!
I was honored to take part in the renaming of a street in Summerlin for Kevin Orrock, recognizing him for his leadership and contributions to making Summerlin one of the premier master-planned communities in America.
I had a wonderful meeting with the leaders of various animal rescues in the area! It was great to discuss ways we can collaborate to improve the lives of our animals. Together, we can make a difference!
It was fun to learn about an emergent sport called Catchball that originated in Israel 15 years ago. If you haven't tried Catch Ball yet, I highly recommend it. It's a cooperative team-based volleyball-style game where players aim to keep the ball in play by catching and throwing it to one another without dropping it, emphasizing communication and coordination. It's a fantastic way to get active.
I had a great time at the American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Southern Nevada Barbecue! It was an honor to present a certificate of recognition from my office in the city of Las Vegas to this amazing organization. I lost my father to cancer, but my husband survived lung cancer, so saving lives from this dreadful disease is a personal priority. Let's continue to support the fight against cancer!
We celebrated the official opening of city pools. We attended "Float Day," hosted by Float Like a Duck. I was honored to present Float Like a Duck with a Certificate of Recognition from the Mayor and the Las Vegas City Council for their remarkable support over the last 20 years safeguarding Las Vegas children through their water safety programs. They held a "Learn to Float" lesson, and we distributed water safety bookmarks.
I was honored to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Crovetti Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Center. I acknowledged Dr. Michael Crovetti Jr., Scott Goldstein, and their team at Prospect Street for their remarkable achievement. I thank both of them for their dedication to bringing high-quality development to Ward 2.
I attended the grand opening of the beautiful new additions to the Plaza Hotel. This expansion will contribute to the excitement of the Fremont Street Experience. I want to congratulate the Plaza for bringing the first Pinkbox Doughnuts to downtown Las Vegas, which will undoubtedly be a tremendous success for them.
It was great to attend the SHERO SHIELD Education Program launch by the B.E A S.H.E.R.O Foundation. Their dedication to preventing human traffking through education is commendable.
I want to thank Pastor Paul Goulet and his team for taking me with Vegas Stronger on their outreach into the tunnels to bring food, essential items, and Narcan to the unhoused in our community. This is a crucial first step in getting these individuals to the services they need.
Thank you, Sherry Rickard, for the opportunity to speak at the Daughters of the American Revolution's new flag presentation. It was an honor to share a few words and be part of such a meaningful event.
It was my honor to recognize the Italian American Club for its dedication to our children’s education by their funding a variety of scholarships for deserving students in our community. Their support will help provide a bright future for young people across our community. And a big CONGRATULATIONS to all the scholarship winners.
I had the honor of presenting a certificate of recognition to Global Medical Response to celebrate their launching of the Aerocare air ambulance service in Las Vegas. This new service will be a true lifesaver for our community.
It was a great time at the African Diaspora of Las Vegas. Thank you for welcoming me to speak and join in a panel discussion. I look forward to working together on future projects.
Thank you Andrew for the tour of the Downtown Grand and its properties. I had a fabulous time.
