Past, Present and Future of African Americans in Local Law Enforcement Honored at City Council Meeting
Ward 4 Ceremonial Highlights Three Remarkable People
The Feb. 1 City Council meeting was truly a special day for our city, as we had the honor and privilege of recognizing the impact of three remarkable individuals in local law enforcement. Beatrice Dyess, the first black female law enforcement officer at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Officer Preston Ellis, who has earned national recognition as a top cop, and Officer Adrian Hunt, founder of the DREAM program, have all made a tremendous impact not only on our city, but in the hearts and minds of our kids and countless others.
In light of the city's celebration of BlackHistoryMonth, it seemed only fitting that we take a moment to acknowledge their service and dedication to our community. They have served as true role models and inspirations to us all.
It was an absolute honor to be a part of this ceremony and to see their contributions recognized. We are grateful for their service and for the positive impact they've had on our city.
