Submit Your 2022 Las Vegas Days Parade Entry Application Now Free Las Vegas Days Festival On Centennial Plaza Following The Parade May 14 The Las Vegas Days Parade, an annual event celebrating Las Vegas’ history and founding in 1905, is accepting applications from the community to participate in the 2022 parade, scheduled for Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to noon. There is space for a total of 100 entries. The application deadline is April 30, 2022; application may be made online at https://cityoflasvegas.formstack.com/forms/las_vegas_days_parade. There is no fee to enter the parade, which will take place on Fourth Street downtown between Gass and Stewart avenues. Everyone is invited downtown to enjoy the parade as well as the free Las Vegas Days Festival following the parade. The festival will be held 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Centennial Plaza at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St. Adults can enjoy the beer and wine garden, while youth will participate in kids’ activities from DISCOVERY Children’s Museum, The Neon Museum and much more. Everyone will enjoy the live entertainment from Las Vegas’ own Nashville Renegades, featuring Ben Hale and Zack Ryan, as well as Las Vegas headliner Frankie Moreno and his 10-piece band. Lots of interactive artwork from First Friday and Fired Up Management will be on the plaza, as well as an exhibit from the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority of historical photos that members of the community are invited to identify. Broadcasting live from the festival will be radio stations Sunny 106.5 and 95.5 The Bull. Downtown businesses are invited to decorate their storefronts for the weekend in the historic Las Vegas Days theme. The Commission for the Las Vegas Centennial is offering $1,000 for local school marching band entries and $1,500 for quality local school float entries; limited to two parade entries per school. Some additional roving performance entertainment along the parade route will be supplied by the Commission budget, as well. A committee will judge the entries during the parade and prizes will be awarded, including $500 for the best marching band and $500 for the best historic Las Vegas-themed float, as well as an award for best float by a casino/hotel. “We are excited to add the Las Vegas Days Festival to our celebration,” said Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman. “From the marching bands to the beautiful horses and the floats, this parade is for the entire community. I look forward to seeing families lining Fourth Street to view the outdoor spectacle and then enjoying the festival.” The theme of entries should reflect our heritage, the birthday of the city of Las Vegas, and Vegas, then and now. May 15 is the 117th anniversary of the land auction in 1905, which marks the beginning of Las Vegas. This parade celebrating Las Vegas’ heritage was created in 1935 as the Helldorado Parade.
