WGU Selected by U.S. Naval Community College for Program
The U.S. Naval Community College (USNCC) selected Western Governors University as one of the Pilot II cybersecurity associate degree programs in February. This new opportunity provides active-duty enlisted sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen the ability to earn cybersecurity certificates or associate degrees that will directly contribute to the naval services and set them on a path of lifelong learning.
“We are delighted to partner with the U.S. Naval Community College to serve our military personnel and enable the warfighting capabilities of our nation,” said WGU President Scott Pulsipher. “With our student centeredness and competency-based education model, we will demonstrate our unwavering commitment to maritime student access and success.” The degree will have an established transfer path to four-year degree programs in cybersecurity and information assurance and also includes a certificate in Naval Studies taught by the USNCC’s faculty and a Professional Cybersecurity Certificate in Network and Cyber Defense Foundations earned through WGU.
Active-duty enlisted sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen can fill out an application on the USNCC website, www.usncc.edu. The first courses will start in the fall of 2022. Spring Seasonal Watering Limits in Effect Through April 30
The Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) reminds the community that mandatory spring watering restrictions, which limit landscape irrigation to up to three assigned days per week, are in effect now through April 30. To find your assigned watering days, visit snwa.com.
Watering outside of your three assigned days or allowing water to spray or flow off your property could incur fees ranging from $40 to $80 for the first violation and up to $1,280 for repeated violations. Along with following the seasonal restrictions, periodically inspecting your landscape irrigation system for broken or misaligned sprinklers can help you avoid potentially costly water-waste fines.
