Victoria Seaman Councilwoman, Ward 2
Councilwoman Victoria Seaman's Updates
I want to thank Senator Hammond, Assemblyman Hafen, Assemblyman McArthur, Assemblywoman Kasama, and Assemblywoman Thomas for joining me and the city of Las Vegas Government Affairs team for lunch. It was great to meet and discuss how we can work together on issues that affect the city. A special thanks to Kevin Beck for taking the time to discuss SLAPP laws with us.
Great meeting at the Community Kollel with Rabbi Meth in Ward 2. I appreciate all the community outreach they have provided since 2011.
I want to wish Randy Klenosky a happy retirement from his 20+ years in law enforcement. He was always a pleasure to work with at the Summerlin Area Command and I thank him for his commitment to serving our community.
I wanted to recognize the animal rescue service, Project 4 Paws, for the great service they provide for the city of Las Vegas. Project 4 Paws is a nonprofit organization that helps guinea pigs in the Las Vegas area get rehomed, rehabilitated and rescued. I thank them for the amazing work they do for the community. LVMPD Explorer Program Accepting Applications
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Law Enforcement Explorer program is accepting applications until March 3 for its spring recruitment class!
This career-based program exposes young adults to the realities of a career in policing. Explorers see exactly what it takes to be an officer on the streets, operations within the jail, how to process crime scenes and how to take 911 emergency calls. Through weekly meetings at LVMPD Headquarters, members will learn valuable leadership and life skills, make new friends, interact with the public, and most of all have fun! Being a LVMPD Explorer is an exciting and rewarding service activity which will enhance the Explorer’s preparation for future roles as a citizen and community member.
Now in its 43rd year, the LVMPD Law Enforcement Explorer Program offers unparalleled experiences to young, career-minded adults. The program provides our valley's teens the means and opportunities to share thoughts and ideas with others their age while exploring the various career paths law enforcement has to offer. More importantly, the program is designed to pair teens with mentors who will show them law enforcement from a different perspective, to build mutual understanding.
To participate in the program, a candidate must be between the ages of 16 and 20, be of good moral character, have no felony convictions or lengthy criminal history, must pass a police background investigation, must be motivated and willing to volunteer time in our community.
Additional details, including the online application, are available at www.LVMPDExplorers.com.
