Jan. 18, 2022
Dear Neighbors,
Happy New Year! I hope this newsletter finds you well after a fully cleared inbox of Happy New Year’s greetings. Over the holiday break, I had the opportunity to reflect with my family on the many successes we had in 2021.
From making great developments on preserving our historic neighborhoods in Ward 1, to hosting outreach events like Brews with Brian and our monthly park clean, I look forward to the exciting opportunities that 2022 brings us. This New Year, we find ourselves excited to get the year started. As you are aware, after each new U.S. Census, the city of Las Vegas is obligated by law to re-evaluate its' ward boundaries.
Through the redistricting process, many parts of Ward 1 have changed. This month, my team and I drove around new parts of the Ward to look at areas that need improvement and to visit new businesses in the area.
Our team has started the year strong by bringing our community together. At the January City Council Meeting, I recognized the Southern Nevada Community Health Center for their work improving the health of residents in Ward 1. To date, the Southern Nevada Community Health Center has completed more than 10,000 patient encounters, administered 32,000+ COVID-19 vaccinations, conducted over 57 mobile clinics in the Southern Nevada area, and even opened up a new clinic in East Las Vegas. Their tremendous work inspires me here at City Hall and it was great to recognize them as our first ceremonial item.
Despite challenges and continued complications in the greater community when it comes to COVID-19, I am hopeful that we will continue to make great progress on the work we get to do together.
I look forward to seeing you and your family soon at upcoming events. Happy New Year and please do not hesitate to reach out to my team or me if you need assistance.
Very Truly Yours,
Brian Knudsen

INVESTING IN MEDICAL STUDENTS
This week, I had the opportunity to host a lunch roundtable with several students from the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV to hear about their ideas on affordable housing, school, and more! Special thanks to the School of Dental Medicine at UNLV for hosting us for this productive conversation!

SUPPORTING LAW ENFORCEMENT PARTNERS
My team and I started off 2022 by joining our community partners at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's (LVMPD) Bolden Area Command. Bolden Area Command hosted a Hispanic Citizens Academy to educate residents and community leaders on the ways they can partner up with their local LVMPD command stations. For the Latino community, my team and I are steadfast in our commitment to serving and providing resources in Spanish and look forward to our continued partnership!

SUPPORTING BUSINESSES AND TOURING NEW PARTS OF WARD 1!
To kick off 2022, my team and I toured the new boundaries of Ward 1, due to the mandatory redistricting process that was recently implemented. We had the opportunity to stop by new neighborhoods and walk around business plazas in Ward 1.
For lunch, I had the opportunity to stop by Crab N Spice, a local Filipino-American owned small business restaurant that recently opened up in Ward 1. I look forward to supporting our new businesses and enjoying great food with our small business owners this year!
