I had the pleasure of giving the American Legion Auxiliary Juniors a tour of City Hall. They enjoyed learning about our local city of Las Vegas government. I presented an award for heroism to Iris, one of the young Junior Auxiliary members, and award certificates to Samantha for the Nevada Junior Member of the Year Award and Statewide Poppy Poster Contest. Congratulations to these young ladies and their dedication to the community.

We had two special individuals who were recognized at the July 21 City Council. First was our city of Las Vegas Municipal Court employee Michael Yandric as Employee of the Month. Thank you so much for the great job you do for our city! Second was former City Councilman and County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly, who we recognized for his amazing service to the Las Vegas community.
Congratulations to all the amazing graduates from the Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Training Academy Class of 2021-1! Seventeen graduates went through 19 weeks of grueling training and received their pins. Thank you for choosing to serve and protect our community. Welcome to the city of Las Vegas government family!
I had the honor to tour Project 150. They are a team of dedicated and hard-working individuals, many of them volunteers. They provide support and services to homeless, displaced, and disadvantaged high school students. They started in one high school and are now in 75. High school students can shop free at Betty’s Boutique for like-new or new clothing. They are now providing college scholarships to students pursuing higher education, giving them an opportunity for a successful future.
If you would like to learn more about this organization, please go to their website.
I truly enjoyed my tour of Sol-Up, a solar-energy company that does business the right way with the latest technologies and hardware. Sol-up is committed and envisions Nevada to run off of clean solar energy.
It was an honor to present my dear friend Joe W. Brown with a proclamation from the city of Las Vegas government, recognizing July 31, 2021, as Joe W. Brown Day, to celebrate his life spent in service to the state of Nevada and the city of Las Vegas. I wish him a wonderful 80th birthday and the best in the years to come!
Great meeting with Marcus Banks at the city of Las Vegas City Hall. Thank you for sharing your story with me. Looking forward to working with you in the future. Thank you for giving back to our community!
I want to thank Esther Caruso-Golleher for the tour of the Women’s Resource Medical Center. What an amazing facility dedicated to serving the women and men of our community. To learn more about what they do and how to help, please visit https://freepregtest.com/.
I had the honor of meeting with my friends, the heroes of Red Rock Search & Rescue. We are truly blessed to have these incredible individuals, who volunteer their time and are there when we need their help!
I had a great time at the Veterans Memorial Community Center time capsule ceremony. The kids did a great job selecting items for the capsule that will give people a very good understanding of what life was like in 2021 when they open this capsule in 2041. I was honored to contribute my challenge coin and business card.

We had a very busy morning with our Breakfast Buzz & Ward 2 Biz at Egg Works. What a wonderful turnout! I always enjoy hearing what the citizens of Ward 2 have to say.
It was great to come out to our beautiful Pavilion Pool and meet the Nevada Desert Mermaids, one of our great local synchronized swim teams.
It was great to spend time with our crew beautifying Bruce Trent Park with a new park sign. I even took a turn behind the wheel of this backhoe. We have added a new playground and picnic pavilion with so many new improvements to come. Please bring your family down and check it out!

Please take a brief survey at https://tinyurl.com/1octmemorial and provide your input on the memorial’s artistic, design and educational features.
