It was a pleasure to bring snacks to all the volunteers who were distributing the second vaccine dose to our constituents at Veterans Memorial Community Center.

 It is my honor to reappoint Mike Henley to the city of Las Vegas Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission. We are truly lucky to have people like him dedicated to serving the city.
 It was great to have Charlie Licata, Ron Mele and Bill Swierupski of the Las Vegas NYPD Ten-13 Club visit my office today to talk about the next 9/11 event.
They have been instrumental in keeping the helping us to remember to pay tribute to the heroes of that tragic day.
On their national tour for the 9/11 20th anniversary tribute this year, Hero-1, the special truck that is carrying a replica of the World Trade Center that was made in the Netherlands was in Las Vegas paying tribute to the fallen heroes of 9/11.
 My Arts Commissioner Heidi Gustafson had her first committee meeting after being sworn in. Congratulations on your appointment, we know you will represent us well in the city of Las Vegas.
 Look who I ran into at our very own Farmers Market in Ward 2 Bruce Trent Park, Christie Garness from the city. We were both scouting out artists and shopping.

Thank you Israeli American Council Las Vegas for inviting me to this amazing event bringing Jerusalem to Summerlin in Ward 2.
The Ward 2 Document Shredding & Medication Disposal event had a great turnout! So very happy to see that many of our residents get involved in using these important services.
I had the wonderful opportunity to share the blueprints for the upcoming Bruce Trent Park playground renovation with the kids at the Vegas Strong Academy at Veterans Memorial Community Center in Ward 2. What a great group of kids!
I had the honor to present the WIN (Women in Need of Change) Court Graduation Certificates to Annalesha Ruttan and Ashley Tyquiengco recognizing their success on behalf of Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman and City Council. I was also able to present these young women with beautiful butterfly necklaces symbolizing the transformation they have made as they write their own destiny. These women are so smart and talented and make me proud.

Calling all artists to showcase and sell their products at the first annual Art in the Park at Bruce Trent Park on April 17. If you are interested, please see below for further details.

Trained Volunteers Will Assist Residents
Volunteers from AARP and the Internal Revenue Service Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program will offer residents free assistance with personal income tax form preparation and electronic filing at five city of Las Vegas senior or community centers through April 15. Vita Volunteers are trained to assist in filing tax forms and basic schedules including 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ, for those having a taxable income up to $57,000.
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers provide in-person and virtual tax assistance to anyone free of charge, with a special focus on taxpayers who are over 50 or have low-to-moderate income. Taxpayers with complex returns are advised to seek paid tax assistance by both groups.
Advance appointments are required at all locations. Bring a copy of your 2019 income tax return, Social Security card, photo identification and all of your applicable 2020 paperwork to the appointment. If married, both spouses must be present to file a joint return. Call a center below weekdays to schedule an appointment. Centers will be closed Feb. 15 for holiday observance. The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) is a loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on payroll. Borrowers may be eligible for PPP loan forgiveness.
SBA is currently offering PPP loans until March 31, 2021. President Biden announced program changes to make access to PPP loans more equitable.
