The Neon Museum announces it has joined "Museums for All," a signature access program of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), to encourage people of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum-going habits. The program supports those receiving food assistance (SNAP) benefits to visit The Neon Museum for a minimal fee of $3 per person, up to four people per party, with the presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.

 The city of Las Vegas continues to move forward with programs, funding and new construction to assist those experiencing homelessness. The city has long worked to help the homeless population become healthy, housed and hired, and those goals have been helped by the establishment to the Courtyard Homeless Resource Center in August 2017.
The Courtyard is a starting point where homeless individuals can go to access resources all in one place within the Corridor of Hope at 314 Foremaster Lane. Currently, the Courtyard is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Get help by calling 702-229-6117 or email courtyardHRC@lasvegasnevada.gov.
The ultimate plan for the Courtyard is to provide all the services someone experiencing homelessness needs so that they can break the cycle and get off the streets. To that end, a $21 million construction project has begun to add new buildings and facilities at the Courtyard. In 2021, the city is scheduled to open the first part of this newly enhanced campus. Additional services that will be provided through the new campus include:
-
Pet Kennels – the Courtyard will provide space for homeless guests to safely house and care for their pets;
-
Access to Showers – the Courtyard will have individual bathrooms with showers for men and women that guests can access seven days a week;
-
Additional Safe Sleeping Space – More than 800 guests will find respite from the street in the Courtyard’s outdoor sleeping area. The shaded area will provide protection from the wind and rain. Heat will be provided during the winter, and air cooling systems will keep guests comfortable during the hot summer months;
-
Laundry Services – the Courtyard will host a laundry facility where guests can wash and dry their clothes free of charge;
-
Medication Storage – managing medication and keeping medication secure is a challenge when you are living on the street. The Courtyard will provide a safe place for guests to store their medication and check it in and out as needed;
-
Mail Service – the Courtyard will serve as an address of record for interested guests. Having an address to access mail allows homeless individuals to receive ID paperwork, items to connect them to their benefits and other resources to help them move toward self-sufficiency; and
-
Day Center – the new Courtyard will include a large day center where people experiencing homelessness can get relief from inclement weather and have a safe place to be during the day. Courtyard staff will provide various trainings and information sessions for all guests throughout the day. The day center will also serve as a place for community events.
Courtyard staff will continue to assist guests with navigating the social service system and help them connect to the services they need. The Courtyard works hand-in-hand with other services, such as the MORE teams that bring outreach directly to where the homeless population lives.
