Washington Paving Upgrades And Lane Closures Continue Through June 30
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is undertaking a $1.12 million, half-mile-long upgrade of Washington Avenue (State Route 578) between A Street and Las Vegas Boulevard in downtown Las Vegas. Las Vegas Paving is the general contractor. The project calls for milling and placing new asphalt pavement as well as reconstructing handicap ramps. The right travel lane in each direction will remain closed 24/7, due to light traffic volumes, throughout the project. Construction is scheduled to finish by June 30.
Motorists should use caution while travelling through work zones, heed construction signage, and take alternate routes, if possible. NDOT works with Waze to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but unscheduled construction changes, closures and restrictions are possible due to weather or other factors. For the latest state highway conditions, visit nvroads.com or call 511 before driving.
NDOT and its contractors continue vital highway construction and maintenance activities, keeping up Nevada’s transportation system for essential travel and supply chain deliveries. The department actively practices COVID-19-related public health and safety protocols, including social distancing of six feet or more and restricting groups to 10 or less, thereby keeping our team, families and communities safe and connected.
 FOOD SERVICE
CCSD plans to continue providing meals to students through June 30 at current food distribution sites. Meals at the majority of CCSD’s food distribution sites are served Monday-Friday from 7 to 10 a.m. and are free for any child 2-18 years old. To find a site near you or for times and locations of mobile food distribution sites, visit ccsd.nutrislice.com.
A federal extension allowed by the USDA gives CCSD the flexibility to continue meal service through August. CCSD plans to continue serving meals during the summer, but may adjust food distribution sites and times based on the demand for meals during the months of July and August. Any changes to CCSD meal sites after June 30 will be communicated to parents via a ParentLink message.
TECHNOLOGY
CCSD students who have school-issued Chromebooks and other devices are allowed to keep the devices over the summer. Schools will be making special arrangements for seniors to return their devices.
The district plans to continue distributing Chromebook devices to students throughout the summer in an effort to encourage independent learning. More information on distribution events will be provided as plans are finalized.
With the end of the school year, the Wi-Fi bus pilot program also concluded. For a list of community resources, including free Wi-Fi hotspots, click here.

ESY
The Extended School Year (ESY) program, which supports summer learning for identified students with disabilities, will be provided through distance education beginning in June.
Parents with students participating in the ESY program through distance education will receive additional information through the U.S. mail in late May.
SAFEVOICE

In response to COVID-19, the Nevada Division of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) has implemented and launched a NEW filing system for Nevada residents who have been affected by the pandemic to receive benefits.
