I would like to thank the Southern Nevada Health District for providing free COVID-19 tests on Wednesday, May 7, in the Doolittle Complex parking lot. Testing was conducted in a drive-up environment and over 125 people participated. |
The Quiet Storm Foundation and CJ Watson, retired NBA basketball player, partners with the city of Las Vegas and Councilman Cedric Crear to provide free nutritious meals tomorrow at the Doolittle Senior Center.
"I am proud to have food assistance support from the Quiet Storm and Chef Dougan of Simply Pure Restaurant during a time when food insecurity is high. I am also thankful that this is the third food distribution happening in fabulous Ward 5".
 CCSD Food Distribution Site
As warmer weather is on the forecast, the Clark County School District food distribution sites have adjusted to earlier serving times. This will help ensure that the food is maintained at a proper temperature and also to keep team members out of the heat as much as possible.
There are also changes to some Three Square Food Bank sites located at CCSD schools. Visit the website for more information.
National Teachers Week: May 4-8
I would like to honor teachers in celebration of National Teachers Week. Teachers make a huge difference in the lives of our children and their impact extends far beyond the classroom. I also recognize the innovative teaching methods that evolved out of the necessity to extend teaching from the classroom into the homes of our children. Additionally, I would like to recognize parents who have become "home" teachers in response to the COVID-19 restrictions.
Public Feedback Sought for Statewide Transportation Project Process
The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is inviting the public to comment on proposed changes to the process of planning transportation projects and improvements outlined in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). The STIP is a fiscally constrained, four-year planning document listing federal and state-funded transportation projects, as well as regionally significant transportation improvements funded through local and/or state funds in accordance with the Federal Aid Highway Act and the Federal Transit Act.
These projects improve Nevada’s transportation system, including adding lanes, constructing new roads and intersection improvements along with certain road maintenance projects. It also includes transit, rail, pedestrian walkway and bicycle facility projects.
