Touro University Nevada Medical Students Launch MedReady Website Offering Variety of Volunteer Services
Free online tutoring for K-12 students, grocery pick-up for senior citizens among the services offered at no charge from Touro students
Students from Touro University Nevada, home to Nevada’s largest medical school and only school of osteopathic medicine, have created and launched a website offering a variety of volunteer services to the community during the COVID-19 crisis.
Called #MedReady, the site -- tun.touro.edu/medready -- seeks volunteer opportunities for Touro students in three primary areas: free K-12 online tutoring; free undergrad and MCAT online tutoring; and general community assistance, including grocery pickup for seniors, assistance with screenings and other frontline opportunities for healthcare students.

Student Learning Extension Opportunities
During the time frame in which the schools in the Clark County School District (CCSD) are closed, student learning extension opportunities are provided for all students. These student learning extension opportunities provide activities for students to engage in learning at home. Directions for the student learning extension activities are provided in both English and Spanish. As every school community is unique, schools may choose to have additional options for distance education, which may include, but are not limited to, Google Classroom; Canvas; and other school-site platforms currently used at individual schools, as existing log-in access exists for most students.
Special Needs Resource Library at Vegas PBS is available to complete requests for books for students with special needs from parents/guardians by calling 702-799-1010, Option 7, or emailing SpecialNeeds@VegasPBS.org.
In an effort to provide assistance for our families, CCSD has created the Learning Line, a service where CCSD personnel can provide support for all students via telephone to maximize learning through distance education. Please call 702-799-6644 to access the Learning Line. Educators will be available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. to assist students in both English and Spanish during scheduled school days.

Nevada Matters, Be Counted
All Nevadans are encouraged to complete census forms online.
WHY?
For every person counted, Nevada stands to receive $2,000 each year for 10 years that goes directly to help fund communities to stay healthy, safe and educated – that’s over $67 billion in federal funding over 10 years, if everyone is counted. Programs to be funded include, but are not limited to:
- Medicaid
- Health Care Centers
- Nutrition Services for Senior Citizens
- School Breakfast Programs
- Head Start
- Pell Grants
- Career and Technical Education Grants
- Highway Planning and Construction
- Water and Waste Disposal Systems for Rural Communities
Census Mission:
Ensure that Nevadans get their fair share of federal resources and congressional representation by encouraging the full participation of all Nevadans in Census 2020.
