
Upcoming Project Neon Road Closures
Martin L. King Boulevard will be closed between Bonanza Road and Mineral Avenue for two weekends:
- Friday, April 6, at 10 p.m. – Monday, April 9, at 5 a.m.
- Friday, April 20, at 10 p.m. – Monday, April 23, at 5 a.m.
During these closures, Martin L. King Boulevard off- and on-ramps also will be closed.
Alta Drive between Martin L. King Boulevard and Las Vegas Premium Outlet Drive will be closed for two weekends:
- Friday, April 6, at 10 p.m. – Monday, April 9, at 5 a.m.
- Friday, April 13, at 10 p.m. – Monday, April 16, at 5 a.m.

 Special Election Update
Cedric Crear is the unofficial winner of the Ward 5 special election with 627 votes or 27.14% of the vote. The election results were canvassed April 4 by the City Council. The councilman-elect is scheduled to be sworn in at the Wednesday, April 18, City Council meeting.

 Summer Jobs Available
The city of Las Vegas has summer jobs available in several job classifications. The city’s
Parks & Recreation department now is accepting applications for summer camp (recreation
assistant, recreation site leader, and more) and aquatic staff positions (front desk/cashier, laborer,
lifeguard, water safety instructor, pool manager) for the summer season of May 29-Aug. 10, 2018.
Camp job interviews will be scheduled April 9-12. Summer camp training for staff is scheduled
May 14-26. Apply online.

 2018 Las Vegas Helldorado Parade
All community members are invited to submit entries in the Helldorado Parade at no
charge – local businesses, car clubs, equestrian groups, civic groups, nonprofits and more. Five
high school bands and multiple high-school floats are already entered in the 2018 Helldorado
Parade, scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, May 12, downtown on Fourth Street.

 Senior Idol Showcase Auditions
The city of Las Vegas invites residents ages 50 years and older to audition for the 15th annual
Las Vegas Senior Idol Showcase. The variety show will be held at the Charleston Heights Arts
Center Thursday, June 21, at 3 p.m. and will feature entertainment by amateur and professional
performers. All who wish to participate must audition at the Las Vegas Senior Center May 8–10;
audition registration packets are available at the senior center, located at 451 E. Bonanza Road. Completed registration forms must be submitted there by 5 p.m. Friday, April 27,
2018.
