Hello Neighbors!
It’s Back to School time! We are so grateful for all the teachers, staff and administrators returning this Fall after a challenging last school year. As kids head back to school in person next week, let’s all remember to slow down in school zones and keep our kids safe!
As always, please feel free to contact me and my team by phone at (702) 455-3500 or by email at ccdistf@clarkcountynv.gov. You can also follow me @JustinJonesNV on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to keep up with the latest events in the District.

Last Tuesday Commissioner Jones and State Senator Marilyn Dondero Loop met with residents at the Desert Breeze Community Center. Then, on Thursday the Commissioner and staff from Representative Susie Lee's office headed out to visit with residents at the Sandy Valley Senior Center. These town halls were an opportunity to get valuable input from the community regarding American Rescue Plan Funds, Transform Clark County, and other topics of interest.
Join Commissioner Jones and the RTC for two special events in celebration of RTC-OnDemand, the new ride-share service ordered from the palm of your hand. On Friday, August 6th from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Exploration Peak Park in Mountain's Edge you can learn all about RTC-OnDemand with a last chance summer splash bash featuring a live DJ, giveaways, and water activities. Free food for the first 100 attendees! Then, on Saturday, August 7th from 10 am to noon, celebrate with members of our Nevada delegation, RTC board and our friends from the Las Vegas Aces, Las Vegas Aviators, Las Vegas Lights, Las Vegas Raiders, UNLV and Vegas Golden Knights at the Las Vegas Ballpark. This event is limited to the first 200 people to RSVP.
For more information about these and the other (Re)Connect events visit the RTC website
If you, or someone you know, is facing eviction, the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada has information, advice, and resources available to the public. For more information visit https://www.lacsn.org/, calling them at 702-386-1070, or visit their office at 725 E. Charleston.
It's a desert out there and water is a precious resource. If you see water waste happening, there are several ways you can report it. If the waste is within the Las Vegas Valley Water District's service area, customers may report water waste with the LVVWD app, report water waste online, or call 702-822-8571. For other areas, please visit https://www.lvvwd.com/conservation/water-waste/report-water-waste/index.cfml

Just like many small town residents, Tom Sheckells wears many hats - CAC member, Volunteer Fire Fighter, active resident, snow-globe model - but he is most recognizable in his tan cowboy hat as the co-owner and manager of the historic Pioneer Saloon. Although he is moving on to other opportunities out of state, his contributions to the Goodsprings community are appreciated. Thank you, Tom, and best of luck in your new endeavors!

Only 1 in 105,000 cow pregnancies results in triplets - and all three calves survive in only 60% of those births. In other words, it is a pretty rare event - and it is exactly what happened at Greg and Sheryl Neff's Ranch in Sandy Valley. Emma, the 4.5 year old mother, and the three brown and white spotted babies (two males and one female) are doing well.

The inaugural edition of the District F Dispatch shared the story of how Clark County got its name. But how did the rural communities in District F get named? There are some great stories behind those names and we're going to share them with you over the next few months.
Goodsprings: The town was named after Mr. Joseph Good who headquartered his cattle raising operation at this oasis in the desert. After finding silver near the spring in 1861, Good established a small store and the town grew as more silver and lead deposits were discovered around 1868. At first, the town was known as Good's Spring but eventually was changed to Goodsprings with the establishment of the post office.
