Dear Constituents,
It was nice to see many of you at our recent town halls about fire safety and evacuation planning. I also appreciate Assistant Chief Martin Vigil taking the time to do the presentation twice in our district. I know I feel more prepared in the event of a wildfire in our area. We should all be grateful that our County fire fighters do such a good job at putting out the fires that do happen, so they do not get out of control.
In November we are going back to the online format for Hour with Hank on November 7. Many of you seem to appreciate that format, and I hope to see many of you then.
Commissioner Hank Hughes

Commercial Renewable Energy Resolution
On September 26th, the Santa Fe County Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution_2023-093 "Directing Staff to Engage with Expert Consultants Regarding Commercial Renewable Energy Projects in Santa Fe County and Post Information Concerning Conditional Use Permit Applications for Such Projects on the County's Website".
A press release was sent out on September 15th, soliciting public input on the resolution. We thank you all for your feedback, however, we were not able to include all of the recommendations. Below is a memo explaining why some of the comments were not incorporated. The recorded version of the resolution is also included below for review.
As directed by the resolution, Santa Fe County is expected to go live with a webpage that provides information on current commercial renewable energy projects in Santa Fe County on October 31st.

NE/SE Connector Project Update
Photo By: Johnny Baca Santa Fe County Project Manager III
As of October 20, 2023, Richards Avenue is now open! We would like to thank all of the residents, schools, and businesses in the Community College District for your patience during the construction of the roundabout at Richards Avenue and Dinosaur Trail. This is the second of six roundabouts slated for the Northeast Southeast Connector road project. Though the decision to close Richards Avenue was difficult, it allowed construction to be streamlined, with this portion of the project being completed in 40 days as opposed to the originally scheduled completion of 60 calendar days.
Santa Fe County envisions the Northeast Southeast Connector road project to be the most dynamic transportation conduit of the Community College District, strengthening connectivity and safety in this growing area of the community.
Highlight: Commissioner Hughes receiving a tour of Reunity Resources. Reunity Resources is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that runs a two-acre urban farm and soil+compost yard, promoting a closed-loop, localized food system for equitable food access and sustainable land stewardship. This includes immediate hunger solutions such as fresh produce donations, Double Up Food Bucks, and the Santa Fe Community Fridge & Pantry.
