I am happy and excited to share my first newsletter as District 1 Santa Fe County Commissioner. Here is a brief overview of my history to get to know me a little better.
I have lived with my wife, Sandra Higaskino-Greene and dog, Leo, in Santa Fe for nearly 30 years.
I earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of New Mexico and bachelor’s degree in architecture from Syracuse University. Co-founder of Warehouse 21 and the Santa Fe Teen Arts Center, I am an active volunteer for the New Mexico Children’s Foundation and the Buckaroo Ball Committee that provides funding to local charities serving Santa Fe County youth. Recently, Sandra and I led the effort to secure private funding to pay the design and creation of the Fort Marcy Dog Park.
I am the founder of Dashing Delivery, Santa Fe’s only locally owned, sustainable food delivery service. Over the last 19 years, I have worked with more than 50 locally owned restaurants, helping them connect with the community, increase their revenue, and ensuring more small businesses stay open and employees are retained. I am personally committed to achieving a carbon neutral footprint by 2025 and am nearly there with the use of electric and hybrid vehicles for delivery.
Over the last decade I have worked to increase economic development opportunities for all Santa Feans by advising and serving on the Legislative Jobs Council, Pueblo of Tesuque Development Corporation, and Santa Fe Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee. I have been instrumental in the development of the Santa Fe Convention Center, the community-based redevelopment of the Santa Fe Railyard, and the conversion of Camel Rock into a new film studio. Along with my ongoing commercial and residential development projects, I am developing a solar-powered restaurant incubator to give Santa Feans the opportunity to start and grow their own businesses.
During my time on the City of Santa Fe Planning Commission, I was critical of the City’s lack of long-range planning and affordable housing. Although my work led to some positive changes, I recognize that Santa Fe needs real, sustainable development solutions and affordable housing options.
I am eager to utilize my wealth of experience to benefit District 1 constituents and Santa Fe County as a whole.
Moving forward is about progress. It is time to look to a brighter future and start to make it happen. District 1, I am proud and honored to represent OUR County OUR Future.
