You may also visit the Office of the Santa Fe County Assessor, 102 Grant Ave., April 2nd through May 1st, 2019 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to file appeals, ask questions or file for exemptions. - Exemptions and Benefits
- Head of Family Exemption – The Head of Family exemption is a $2,000 reduction of taxable value on residential property. The exemption may save property owners $35 – $50 a year in taxes.
- Veterans Exemptions – The Veterans Exemption is a $4,000 reduction of taxable value that may be applied to the veterans, or surviving spouse’s residence or vacant land.
- The 100% Disabled Veterans Exemption is a %100 exemption from property taxes on the veterans residential property up to five acres of land.
- Valuation Freeze – Residents 65 years or older, or disabled at any age with a total household income of $32,000 or less in the prior year of application may qualify.
- This benefit will freeze the total assessed value from increasing each year which helps alleviate tax increases. *This benefit freezes the Value not the taxes. Taxes may fluctuate due to the tax rates that are set by the State Department of Finance Authority.
- Property Valuation Protests
- Online – Property owners have the option to protest their property value online through the Assessor’s CRM Portal
- Deadline – The deadline to protest property values is May 1st, 2019. Protest Amount – The value to protest is the “2019 Total Full Value” on your Notice of Value
