Over 90 % of New Mexico's rivers, including the Santa Fe River, may lose water quality protections under federal proposed changes to the Clean Water Act. On February 26, 2019 the Board of Santa Fe County Commission adopted a resolution to submit comments to the EPA opposing the proposed changes in order to safeguard New Mexico's surface waters. Public comments on the proposed rule changes can be submitted by April 15 by email to OW- Docket@epa.gov or online at http://www.regulations.gov/ .

Eighty Santa Fe County Employees Participate in 3P Challenge
The County's People-Planet-Prosperity Challenge has been changing Santa Fe County employees behaviors both at work and at home. The Challenge, designed by Sustainability's Ashley Zappe, has four focus weeks: waste, water, energy and transportation. Test yourself on the some of the challenges!
- Waste: Pack a completely waste-free lunch.
- Water: Wash your clothes in cold water.
- Energy: Turn off the lights AND the power to devices not in use (like your speakers, computer, and charger!)
- Transportation: For one trip, avoid a one car / one person transport- who knows what kind of friends you'll make when you walk, bike, bus, or carpool?
