mountain biking, hiking and experience Santa Fe’s history, culture and cuisine
with two episodes of “Travels with Darley” broadcast Saturdays at 3:30 pm April
28th and May 19th on New Mexico PBS.
Santa
Fe County, New Mexico will be featured in two half hour episodes
on New Mexico PBS and PBS stations across the nation as part of a new season of
Travels with Darley. The series,
which can be seen in over 96% of the USA on PBS stations, features Santa Fe
alongside such destinations as Tokyo, Hong Kong, Martinique and Great Britain
and the experiences Emmy-nominated TV host Darley Newman uncovered may surprise
area viewers.
Travels with Darley follows
TV host Darley Newman, who also hosts the longtime Equitrekking series, in beautiful, awe-inspiring places as she
experiences what gives each destination its authentic “sense of place” . . .
all with the help of local residents. Each episode introduces millions of U.S.
and global viewers to food, nature, art, music, history, attractions and
adventure, showcasing what makes each location truly unique. This season brings
the series to 30 half hours and also includes an episode filmed in New Mexico along the Continental
Divide Trail, which features a stop at the Georgia
O’Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe. This “New
Mexico’s Continental Divide Trail” episode broadcasts on Saturday, April 21st
at 3:30pm on New Mexico PBS.

the rich food, architecture, crafts and traditions of Santa Fe, which are truly
special,” said Newman. “Santa Fe has a breadth of diversity for travelers of
all tastes and budgets. I particularly like that you can enjoy art and
architecture downtown and within a short drive be immersed in nature. Many of
the experiences we’re showcasing in these episodes are accessible to all skill
levels, whether you’re an avid hiker or mountain biker or just a novice looking
to enjoy some time outside.”
The Santa Fe Arts & Culture episode broadcasts on Saturday, April
28 at 3:30 pm on New Mexico PBS (KNME-HD 5.1). Darley starts out in downtown
Santa Fe, exploring art, history and architecture, but then takes viewers
further afield to enjoy Japanese culture and relaxation at Ten Thousand Waves Spa Resort and for a road trip along the historic Turquoise Trail
National Scenic Byway. Viewers also get an insider’s tour of Bonanza Creek
Ranch, where many Hollywood movies have been filmed, and a taste of Santa Fe’s vibrant
food scene at the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market with Executive Chef Kai Autenrieth of

Santa Fe
Adventures broadcasts on Saturday, May 19th
at 3:30pm with a special look at Santa Fe’s adventure travel scene. Darley and
local guides lead viewers mountain biking in the Santa Fe National Forest,
hiking at Diablo Canyon and Tsankawi Prehistoric Site, a
lesser visited outpost of Bandelier National Monument. Santa Fe’s rich history is
revealed along parts of the historic El Camino Real at El Rancho de las Golodrinas living history museum. Darley
also meets Sunrise Springs Spa Resort’s Chef Rocky Durham to taste New Mexico
ingredients and takes a trip to Chimayó to meet local weaver Robert
Ortega before tasting Chimayó
chile with Restaurateur Florence Jaramillo
at the James Beard Award-Winning Rancho de Chimayó Restaurante.
