San Juan County's Outdoor Future is in Your Hands!
San Juan County was awarded an outdoor recreation grant from the State of New Mexico to create a master plan for all things outdoor recreation related. An enduring outdoor recreation and trails master plan plays a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life and overall well-being of a community. San Juan County is actively a comprehensive outdoor recreation master plan tailored to the needs of the San Juan community. This visionary blueprint will serve as a compass for the forthcoming decades, steering the evolution of recreational amenities, park spaces, and trail networks. The endeavor of a recreation master plan transcends mere development; it nurtures communities to flourish in health, advocates for the safeguarding of nature, kindles economic vitality, and ensures fairness in transportation access.
In order to develop the master plan, the County enlisted the services of Pland Collaborative through an RFP process. Pland has been actively involving the public, soliciting feedback at various events such as the 2024 County Fair in August, the Farmers Market in Farmington, and the WE Rock event in September. They have gathered input from over 200 community members regarding outdoor recreation. Pland will be present at the Balloon Glow on September 27 from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM and invites everyone to share their goals and aspirations for outdoor activities and recreation. Pland is also planning events for the Road Apple Rally and the Shiprock Fair. Below is the website to explore, share, and participate.

Tax time is coming soon and while no one is happy to receive a tax bill, we want to make sure bills are set to the correct address. To reduce the number of tax bills sent to an incorrect address and returned, we need updated mailing addresses! (Yes, your taxes are still due even if the bill doesn't get delivered to the right address, sorry!)
There are two easy ways to make sure the bill comes to the right place.
First, you can sign up for e-billing and get your tax bill in your email.
Second, update your mailing address on a paper form, or online. It just takes a moment, and if you receive your tax bill somewhere other than the property address, you may need to update your account.

October is Fire Prevention Month, a critical time dedicated to raising awareness about fire safety and prevention. Each year, thousands of lives are lost, and countless homes are damaged due to fires that could have been prevented. This observance serves as a reminder of the importance of understanding fire risks and implementing safety measures.
Fire Prevention Month encourages individuals and families to take proactive steps, such as creating and practicing a fire escape plan, installing smoke alarms, and conducting regular fire drills. It also highlights the significance of education in identifying potential fire hazards, from overloaded electrical outlets to improper storage of flammable materials.
As we observe Fire Prevention Month, let’s commit to being vigilant and proactive. Remember, safety starts with you—take the time to learn, prepare, and spread the word about fire prevention. Together, we can make our communities safer for everyone.
