Tax time is coming once again and while no one is happy to receive a tax bill, we want to make sure bills are set to the correct address. Last year, we received multiple trays of returned mail after tax bills went out! To reduce the number of tax bills sent to an incorrect address and returned, we need updated mailing addresses! (Yes, your taxes are still due even if the bill doesn't get delivered to the right address, sorry!)
There are two easy ways to make sure the bill comes to the right place.
First, you can sign up for e-billing and get your tax bill in your email.
Second, update your mailing address on a paper form, or online. It just takes a moment, and if you receive your tax bill somewhere other than the property address, you may need to update your account.

The recent trend of hot, dry weather is going to continue into the near future, and San Juan County Fire & Rescue has implemented fire restrictions that will continue until there is significant moisture in large parts of the county.
No burning is allowed and burn permits will not be issued. This includes the burning of cropland, fields, rangeland, debris burning, slash piles, prescribed burning, or weed burning. This regulation does not apply to recreational fires in a fire pit, charcoal grills, and wood and coal stove in the yard of a residence or on the premises of a business.
This restriction will be strictly enforced.
Please help us by not burning, and being exceptionally careful with hot work, grinding, welding, or any activities that generates sparks.

![School Threats](https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/fancy_images/NMSANJUANCTY/2023/07/7941509/4877580/schoolthreats_crop.jpg)
School is starting soon and we would like to remind students that sharing or forwarding a school threat can spread misinformation and cause panic. If you become aware of a school threat, notify authorities and let them investigate. Don’t share or forward the information. The Sheriff's Office partners with the FBI and other agencies in the investigation of any threats, whether they are a hoax or not. Public assistance is crucial to our efforts to curb these hoax threats. We ask that the public continue to contact law enforcement to report any potential threats or suspicious activity. If there is any reason to believe the safety of others is at risk, we ask that the public immediately reach out to their local police department by calling 911.
