It's time for the 2022 San Juan County Fair!
While the San Juan County Fair is organized by the San Juan County Fair Board, it couldn't happen without some help from County Parks & Facilities staff to get the Fairgrounds ready, and keep it clean throughout the week.
In case you are keeping track, Parks & Facilities crews are responsible for the following during the course of the Fair:
- 80 Display cases that must be taken out of storage, cleaned, and placed in the correct area.
- 20 Peg Boards on wheels for displays
- $3,500 in paper products for restrooms
- Rented 50 Poly carts for trash
- 10 Dumpsters that are emptied each day
- 7 truck loads of manure hauled off
- 1,500 chairs set for the concerts
And that's just a start!
There is something for everyone at the County fair, go to SanJuanCountyFair.net for the full schedule and more information!

Yard of the Month
Summer isn't quite over yet, there is still time to submit for Yard of the Month!
Do you know of a property in the unincorporated parts of San Juan County that is beautiful?
The San Juan County Commission recognizes one yard or property every month for its beauty, unique style, or the hard work and dedication of its owner in making San Juan County beautiful. It doesn't have to be green, just well maintained! If you would like to submit a property for review, contact Code Compliance Officer Shana Wells at (505) 333-3130 to submit a nomination.
Let’s show our appreciation for those who set the example and make San Juan County Beautiful.

Statewide Burn-Ban Lifted
Since May, the state has been under fire restrictions put in place by the State Forrester and we have been unable to issue burn permits. As of August 1, that burn ban is lifted and we will be issuing burn permits, as weather and conditions allow.
Thank you for your patience in waiting to do any outdoor burning, as you catch up on your plans, we ask that you keep some rules in mind:
- Burn permits entitle the holder to burn plant material ONLY.
- Burn permits are intended for the use of small agricultural burns only, for large burns please call Fire Operations to have the proposed burn area inspected prior to burning.
- If you are granted a burn permit, you must stay aware of wind conditions, and extinguish the fire if wind conditions change and could cause the spread of fire.
- The fire MUST stay 50 feet away from any structure or power line.
- You must have water nearby and available for use.
- You MAY NOT leave the fire unattended.
If your permit is granted, you may begin to burn at sunrise, and the fire must be completely out by noon, or sunset, depending on the permit issued.
You must call 911 IMMEDIATELY if the fire gets out of control.
Call (505) 334-1180 for a burn permit on weekdays and (505) 334-6622 on weekends.
Please be safe!
