The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) will hold an informational meeting Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in Albuquerque regarding the Emission Guidelines for Existing Municipal Solid Waste Landfills, promulgated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) July 15, 2016 and published August 29, 2016. This meeting will focus on the requirements of the new Emission Guidelines, including applicability, emission thresholds, control requirements, monitoring, reporting and recordkeeping. NMED intends to revise its implementing State Plan, as required by EPA. This will involve revising 20.2.64 NMAC - Municipal Solid Waste Landfills and submitting an emissions inventory to EPA. A public hearing with the Environmental Improvement Board will be required.
