The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) will hold public listening sessions in Santa Fe on Wednesday, November 18 and in Albuquerque on Thursday, November 19, 2015, to
take questions and comments on the Clean Power Plan recently promulgated by the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These meetings are open to any interested
member of the public. The listening sessions will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Southside
Public Library, 6599 Jaguar Drive, Santa Fe (November 18) and at the New Mexico Environment Department District 1 Office, 121 Tijeras Ave. NE, Albuquerque (November 19).
The Clean Power Plan is EPA’s new regulation requiring
states to limit emissions of greenhouse gases from existing electric power
plants. NMED’s November 18 and 19 public listening sessions will give community members
an opportunity to express their views and ask questions about the Clean Power
Plan and New Mexico’s potential options for complying with it. NMED staff will
present a brief overview of the Clean Power Plan to open the meeting, followed
by opportunity for the public to ask questions or give input.
