County to break ground on new Anthony fire station
Doña Ana County, NM - County leadership will hold a ceremony to commemorate the groundbreaking of its new fire station in Anthony, NM on Monday, Dec. 19. The public is invited to attend.
WHAT: New Doña Ana County Fire Station #2 Groundbreaking Ceremony
WHEN: 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19.
WHERE: 3233 Anthony Drive/NM 460, Anthony, NM (next door to NMDOT)
"The new station is a result of the growth we are experiencing in Anthony," said Fire Chief Shannon Cherry. "The existing fire station in Anthony is landlocked, so we were unable to build up or out. This new station will allow us to increase staffing, reduce response times, and better prepare to meet the growing needs of the community."
The total cost of the station is $5,501,850. The project is made possible through funding from a Department of Finance and Administration grant with the support of legislators State Rep. Doreen Gallegos and State Senator Carrie Hamblen. The rest of the funding is provided through Fire Tax, a percentage of Gross Receipts Tax (GRT) that helps fund fire protection services.
The expected completion of the new Anthony fire station is late Fall 2023.
Studio D. Architects is the general contractor. ESA Construction, Inc. is the project architect.
